Brew Review – Route 90 Rye by Engine 15 Brewing

Of the breweries represented at Trench Day this year, I was more than a little amazed to see Jacksonville’s Engine 15 Brewing there. I had to drive up to St. Augustine to try them, and I never expected to see them in South Florida anytime soon.

But there they were, a tap of Route 90 Rye (American IPA, 6.5% ABV, 60 IBU) ready to go.

Route 90 is a good, solid, classic IPA. It has a big, sweet, citrusy hop blend and a beautiful golden color with an almost marshmallow-like head. The rye helps to mellow the bitterness and bring the bready malt out more. It’s not a hop bomb. I’m grateful for that.

So, Engine 15 is making their way down south? This is a good thing, South Florida.

Dave
