It’s been ages, and I haven’t been able to get there like I’ve wanted to, but I have reported on Tequesta Brewing before. And unfortunately I just don’t get to try their beer as much as I’d like. So I was happy to see that their Oak Aged Black IPA (Black IPA, 7.8% ABV) was at the recent Trench Day at Due South Brewing.
It’s got a sweet, almost maple kick to it. And I’ve discovered that I really enjoy black IPAs, since the big, roasted malt characteristics tend to cut some of the power out of giant, hop bitterness. The oak aging really helps to round out the flavor profile as well.
