In an interesting twist of nomenclature fate, the brewery formerly known as Copperpot has now been rechristened Copperpoint Brewing. This brewery, helmed by former Big Bear Brewing Co. brewmaster Matthew Cox, is still in the process of building a tasting room in Boynton Beach, almost literally around the corner from Due South.
That’s actually kinda funny, since the beer they had on tap at Due South’s Trench Day festivities was aptly titled Round the Corner Saison (Farmhouse Ale, 6% ABV)
It’s a crisp, clean, classic saison, which is surprisingly rare. Very mellow, not very bitter, slight citrus notes, and absolutely refreshing.
I have always been a big fan of Matt Cox’s brewing, and I’m happy to see him getting his own place. I’m sure it’s a little early to hope for a canning line, but it would be nice to be able to take a pack of this saison home.
