It looks like April is going to be a big month for South Florida beer.
First, Oakland Park’s own Funky Buddha is collaborating with the highly regarded Dogfish Head Brewery and its legendary founder, Sam Calglione. To celebrate this, Sam and the Dogfish head crew will be at the Funky Buddha brewery for a special beer and food pairing event on Monday, April 6th at 6 PM.
If you’re a whale hunter (someone obsessed with hard-to-find beers), you might want to show up for this one. There will be some incredible, rare beers getting tapped, including the first cask of 75 Minute IPA ever in Florida and a special appearance of Funky Buddha’s Barrel-Aged Morning Wood (which just happens to be their venerable Maple Bacon Coffee Porter aged in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels).
This event has a disturbingly huge tap list of incredible Funky Buddha and Dogfish Head beers. As I mentioned before, there will also be beer and food pairings, such as Plum and Chile-Glazed Duck Wing served with Dogfish Head’s 61 Minute IPA, and Stonefruit Shrimp and Grits, served with Funky Buddha’s Bonita Applebaum.
Head to Funky Buddha’s website for more details.
If that’s not enough, at the end of the month, SaltWater Brewery in Delray Beach is having a special party, Mass Confusion. At the heart of this event is the tapping of an insane 15 treatments of their Belgian Trippel Don’t Get Confused.
The event runs from noon to 11 PM on Saturday, April 25th. Admission is $5, and beers are $5 as well. There’s going to be quite the lineup of beers, both SaltWater and guest, as well as food trucks and live music.
Once I get more information, I’ll be sure to put it up.
Make sure to head out to one or both of these awesome events!
