Naming Contest with Pair O’ Dice Brewing

You know how about a month ago every media outlet started spouting doom and gloom because names are going fast in the craft beer industry?

Well, it’s happening again and it’s your chance to win great prizes!

So, Pair O’ Dice Brewing in Clearwater has a problem. One of their beers, the award-winning Let It Rye’d is in some legal trouble with a small brewery in Minnesota. Apparently this brewery, which shall remain nameless, has a beer named Let It Ride. That similar sound gave said brewery the impetus to flex some legal muscle and make Pair O’ Dice stop using the completely-not-the-same Let It Rye’d name for their rye IPA. To fight this in court, it would be well north of $50k, so they’ve decided to change the name instead.

What does this mean for you? Well, Pair O’ Dice needs your help. From now until August 16th, you can submit a new name for this beer. Five finalists will be chosen, and voting will occur for the winner, finishing on August 31st.

The winner gets the first pour of the newly rechristened IPA, plus a shirt, some stickers, and other stuff. For complete details, head to the official page.

I would love to submit something like Our Lawyers Made Us Change The Name Of This Beer So We Wouldn’t Get Sued, but that may be too much…

Drink Florida Craft,

Dave
