Brew Review – Hazy Sunrise by Tomoka Brewing Co.

One of the great things about Florida is, having multiple coasts, it’s incredibly possible and very simple to see the sunrise and set in the same day. Usually it’s only a few hours drive from one coast to the other, traffic and alligators notwithstanding.

It ends with a nice, romantic sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. It starts on the East Coast, watching the sunrise over the Atlantic.

One of the cities on the Atlantic coast is Port Orange, the home of Tomoka Brewing. Jen and Pete, always awesome, canned some of those beautiful mornings in the guise of Hazy Sunrise (Hefeweizen, 5% ABV).

I love a good sunrise, and I love a good hefeweizen, and Port Orange apparently has both. Hazy Sunrise is a wonderfully bright and peppy wheat ale, with a moderate amount of the traditional German hefeweizen flavors of banana, clove, etc.

Tomoka added a bit of extra citrus, notably orange, that brings an added sweetness and citric punch to the beer. It’s a vibrant beer, easy on the palate and refreshing for a hot Florida day.

And you don’t have to drive across the state to see it.

Drink Florida Craft,
