I am fully aware of exactly how important the show Miami Vice was to the cultural identity of Miami and Miami-Dade County. In many ways, Miami never really left the cocaine-fueled 8o’s behind.
It’s just interesting that 1) So many people use plays on Miami Vice for their beers and 2) Few of them are in Miami-Dade.
MIA Brewing is. And that lends a bit of gravitas to their Miami Weiss (Hefeweizen, 5.8% ABV).
This is the sort of classic hefeweizen that makes me love hefeweizens.
Big and fruity as anything, the flavors of banana, circus peanut, and a hint of clove are as bright and shiny as Don Johnson’s white suits.
It’s got a clean finish, a gorgeous hazy hue, and no trace of brutal hop bitterness or whatever Philip Michael Thomas would put in his hair.
And it’s one of four beers being produced and distributed at Lakeland’s BrewHub, so its reach will be wide.
It’s a far cry from the days of the cocaine cowboys. Maybe beer cowboys can rule the county?
