Brew Review – Twist of Cain by Tomoka Brewing Co. @tomokabrewingco

Question for Tomoka Brewing: Exactly how much do you like Danzig?

I am fully aware that the Glenn Danzig song Twist of Cain is spelled very differently from Tomoka’s DIPA Twist of Cane (Imperial IPA, 8.6% ABV, 75 IBU), but still. It’s just too close.

The cane is actual sugar cane. Freshly pressed sugar cane juice, and there is a light earthy sweetness somewhere in the big, juicy hops.

It’s strong, and there’s a lot of biting alpha acids there for beer drinkers. It isn’t excessively aggressive for the save of being battery acid, like some brewers enjoy doing. It’s functional, but it’s still large.

It’s also slightly limited, I do believe, so grabbing some now might not be such a bad thing.

You can pick up some for your Mother, too. (Danzig joke, anyone? Anyone?)
