Brew Review – Roasted Jalapeno Blueberry Porter by Two Henrys Brewing @twohenrysbeer

Once again it is time for a Sip The Sunshine beer festival preview. Todays comes courtesy of one of my favorites, Plant City-based Two Henry’s Brewing and Keel & Curley Winery.

They’re bringing quite the complement of beverages to the festival in Sarasota, including Hop Tycoon DIPA, Gilded Age Golden Ale, and Pineapple Madman.

And one more, today’s beer review, Roasted Jalapeno Blueberry Porter (Porter, 5.5% ABV).

There’s a heck of a lot going on in this beer, where to begin?

First, yes. It is spicy. It’s not overly killer, pepper spray, drink after you sign the waiver spicy, but there’s a nice kick to the beer that is incredibly noticeable and prominent.

Just a touch behind that is a soft, sweet blueberry flavor. It doesn’t cut any of the peppery spice, but it does add another dimension of flavor that brings an intriguing facet to a beer that could have easily become canned lava.

The malty quality is strong and dark, with big notes of coffee and dark bread with a faint hint of molasses that loves to play around with the blueberry.

By now, I can safely assume I have piqued your interest. You can try some on Oct. 29th at Sip The Sunshine with over 100 other Florida beers and Blues traveler on the main stage. Tickets are at sipthesunshine.com.

Enjoy.

Drink Florida Craft,

Dave
