It is now almost comical to me how often I pass by the Cigar City Brewpub at Tampa International Airport. Ask me a year or so ago, and I would have easily told you I would never see it. Now, it’s really no big. Good Cubans, though.
My one thing, however, is the beers produced at the tiny little brew system that could generally tend towards the hoppy. Imagine my pleasant surprise when I found out the beer on tap was Yoga Pants (Stout, 6.1% ABV, 32 IBU).
It’s a pumpkin stout, hence the amusing Basic White Girl reference in the name. What it isn’t, however, is Good Gourd, Cigar City’s annual chewy pumpkin bomber release.
Yoga is a good deal more drinkable and sessionable. It’s got a great, soft body even with a dark roasted color. There are light notes of coffee and bread in the beer, with a light current of pumpkin spice on the back end.
It’s very satisfying and very crushable. Easily drinkable and possibly the best beer I’ve had from the airport Cigar City so far.
Besides, who knows when I will get there again?
