Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? is a classic children’s book from 1967, written to help children learn colors and meaning.
Brown Beer, Brown Beer, What Do You See? (English Brown Ale, 6.6% ABV) is a classic English Brown ale from Hourglass Brewing in Longwood, brewed to help beer drinkers see exactly how good the style can be.
It’s good. I mean really, really good. Possibly my favorite Florida brown ale good. I won’t say for certain, but it’s up there.
It’s an incredibly soft brown ale, with a warm and inviting woody brown color and sweet, bready aroma. The flavor increases the depth with honey and chocolate malts, both bringing a deep, meaty, mature sweetness.
To that, as if they really needed to plus the beer at all, a healthy helping of oats was added to give the beer a velvety, almost luxurious mouthfeel. This all helps to make Brown Beer Etc. an incredibly satisfying brew.
It’s one of Hourglass’s new 16 oz. can offerings. It’s an awful shame it isn’t in wider distribution, or else I would get it more often.
I get enough of reading children’s books as it is.
