It’s still 2016, and as such, I am not giving up on pumpkin beers just yet.
The last one of the year for me, dancing in like so much Michael Flatley, is Barley Mow Brewing’s Lord of the Gourd (Pumpkin Beer, 7.6% ABV).
It’s a solid, classic pumpkin beer, which is starting to become a rarity. Just the right amount of pumpkin spices, just the right amount of actual yam, nice and smooth.
There’s a good, malty sweetness to the backbone of the beer that accentuates those lovely adjuncts. Light, noble hops, and a surprisingly strong ABV.
I’m about 73% you can still find some cans on area store shelves. It’s worth the buy.
Ignore the calendar. It’s always pumpkin season (I think).
