A long time ago I decided that the blog should be a bit on the clean side, not because I am (I’m not), but to help improve how far the articles can spread.
To that end, I’m not going to describe what a 2 Pump Chump (Porter, 5.5% ABV) is. Feel free to go onto the interwebs and look it up.
2 Pump Chump comes courtesy of Tampa’s Angry Chair Brewing, one of the area’s most well-regarded breweries. Take a look at their social media; they roll out an interestingly varied lineup of bombers with some intereting label art.
As for the beer, there just aren’t enough beers like it on the market. It’s a hazelnut-laced porter, and all of those flavors work incredibly well. The porter itself is incredibly light and creamy, with a soft mouthfeel and an aroma resplendent with aromas of coffee and nuts.
The taste is really, really fantastic. It’s got a wonderfully sweet side, with those big hazelnut flavors combining with a big, malty body filled with notes of chocolate and toasted bread.
It’s the first time I’ve been able to try anything from this Tampa Bay brewer, and it’s a great first brew to see their wares. I’m definitely interested in trying more.
Hopefully I’ll be able to explain the names of those beers.
