Brew Review – Namesake Porter by Crooked Thumb

To be honest, I think I can count the number of breweries in Florida that release a beer with the same name as the brewery itself on one hand and still have fingers left.

I can only assume this is what Safety Harbor’s Crooked Thumb Brewing was going for when they decided to make a slight detour and  name today’s beer Namesake Porter (Porter, 4.3% ABV, 23 IBU).

So it looks like Namesake has 6 different malts, and tastes wonderfully soft and flavorful. There are a lot of toasted notes of bread and coffee, and the brew is remarkably easy to drink. Hops are kept very simple and a touch floral. There’s a solid dark aroma and the color is pretty spot on.

Basically, there you go. A true-to-style, all-purpose, fantastic beer with an all-purpose name.

And I still have those fingers left.

Drink Florida Craft,

Dave
