Brew Review – High 5 by Ft. Myers Brewing @FMBrew

You ever have a beer so perfectly clean and true to style that just its existence makes you happy, great taste notwithstanding?

That’s exactly how I feel about  High 5 (IPA, 5.9% ABV) from Ft. Myers Brewing.

As I continue to nurture my taste for IPAs, it’s nice to find ones that value flavor over bitterness. Ft. Myers – brewers of one of my absolute favorite beers (Gateway Gold, FYI) – hit that balance perfectly with ample additions of Citra and Centennial hops that bring a fantastic amount of bright citrusy flavor with just a touch of earthy pine resin in the aroma.

It’s a clean drinking beer with just enough bitterness to keep things interesting. But it never becomes lost in its own hops. No wonder it won a gold medal at the 2015 Best Florida Beer Championship. The beer is simply classic and very easy to drink. Several.

Perhaps 5?

Drink Florida Craft,

Dave
