From the small tap room on Immokalee Rd. to growing distribution reaching the other side of Alligator Alley, It’s been quite the ride to watch the expansion of Bone Hook Brewing. They’re starting to release cans too, preferring the 16 oz. tall boys taking the brewing industry by storm.
Those are are getting distributed, shipping from their home on the West Coast over to store shelves here on the East Coast. I’m very happy to say that I have a nice assortment of these beers awaiting review in my beer fridge, so I will start with their interestingly named #Bonehook Strong (Strong Ale, 8% ABV).
The beer is beautiful, with a deep orange color and a strong nost of big alpha acid hops with a citrus kick. The flavor definitely tends to a Citra-style beer with a beefy, chewy, toffee-heavy malt bill that brings with it in a very thick mouthfeel. The alpha acids, however, are what linger on the palate just a bit longer than everything else, leading to a bold, heavy drinking experience.
And there is more coming, which makes me very happy. I’ve been a fan of theirs since the beginning and it’s been fun to watch them grow. I can only assume more is on the way, and expect more of them from me.
