I’ve been going to Wynwood’s Concrete Beach Brewing since before it opened. In that end, they have grown their facilities, their beer offerings, their distribution, and their staff. It was one of those staff members, head brewer Eric Hernandez, that I went to visit and chat with recently about LA, Cuban cuisine, and Miami traffic.
It’s been a while since I graced the doorstep of Miami’s Concrete Beach Brewing. And, truth be told, I drove right past it. I’m used to the giant vacant lot that used to be next door to the brewery, wholly unprepared for the gigantic high-rise that is now being built in its place. It’s actually … Continue reading Brew Review – 2018 Gallery Series at Concrete Beach @ConcreteBeachFL
Concrete Beach Brewing in Wynwood welcomed their newest brewmaster, Eric Hernandez, a few months ago. This former Biology major and homebrewer cut his teeth at Concrete Beach’s sister breweries in LA and NY, eventually becoming head brewer at Coney Island Brewing. I’m always very happy when breweries take time to celebrate and honor great local people with their beers. One such beer I the chance to sample was Concrete Beach Brewing’s Julia (Barleywine, 9% ABV), named for the indomitable Julia Tuttle. Ms. Tuttle’s story is a remarkable one of perseverance, business savvy, and forward thinking. Thanks … Continue reading Brew Review – Julia by Concrete Beach Brewing @concretebeachfl
Christmas Carols! Wooo! Not really. But don’t let me stop you if that’s your thing. Quick culture lessons: the Wynwood area of Miami is very notable for all of the murals painted on the sides of pretty much every building in the district. There’s even an area called Wynwood Walls, set aside only to be … Continue reading Brew Review – Deck The Walls by Concrete Beach Brewing @concretebeachfl
And just like that, a ghost from the past is brought back to vibrant life. On Sunday, March 22nd, Concrete Beach Brewing premiered their oldest new beer, Cerveza La Tropical. This beer was the first brewed in Cuba, and comprised up to 60% of Cuban beer sales before it became a victim of Castro’s regime.
