It’s interesting that whenever I talk about Inoculum Ale Works, people are still amazed that they can ship their sour beers anywhere in the US.
Yes, they can. It’s legal and part of what they do. And it’s worth it, too.
Inoculum and their owner/brewmaster Nick Moensch now have 4 different beers available for beer drinkers, ready to ship. I’ve had three of them, and the darkest and biggest of them is definitely Mother Ursa (Oud Bruin, 3.9% ABV, 15 IBU).
A lot of the time, I review beers that you can only get at a high-end beer retailer located in a specific section of Florida. And then sometimes I review beers that never leave the brewery they were brewed in.
Today, everyone in the country has the chance to order this beer and have it to their house in 1-2 days. Tops.
And there’s a dinosaur on the label. Namely, Drex the Lactosaurus Rex (Berliner Weisse, 3.4% ABV, 13 IBU) from Inoculum Ale Works.
Drive North from the Tampa Bay area for about an hour and you come to the quaint village of Brooksville. It’s a sleepy community, hosts an annual blueberry festival each year, and sits relatively close to Weeki Watchee and its famous mermaids.
Pretty soon, it will also be the home of Inoculum Ale Works, a new brewery with two very interesting differences: The will only brew sour beers, and their primary method of distribution will be shipping directly to consumers.
